Painted faces

A load of kids at the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant orphanage, Kenya. They were on a school trip; one of a number of coach loads that came by whilst we were there. It’s great to see the kids being taught about the wildlife that means so much to the country – whilst the population of the country grows exponentially there’s less and less room for wild spaces, and yet the parks and animals bring tourism and money. Africa has changed such a lot since I left in ’92 … sooooo many people!

Western Australia

What an epic month. Pat, Mags, Emma and I spent 4 weeks driving from Margaret’s River up to Exmouth, kite surfing along the way. Nobody got eaten by sharks. Sun was out. Lots of kiting. Success!

Climbing the tall eucalyptus trees
Open air public barbies – awesome!

Nasty looking beast!

Les Tournesols

Parked up for the night somewhere in northern France. I like the French word for sunflowers – “Tournesols”. Does what it says on the tin. Sunflowers spend their day twisting their necks around to face the sun, and then when the sun goes down, they hang their heads for a rest, ready for the next day. Over and over and over.

Chamonix

I love this photo. It’s from an epic week Jon and I had in the French Alps – the Chamonix valley. We’d spent the first few days trying to get up the Aiguille Du Midi with massively oversized packs, then decided that wasn’t such a great idea, had a rest in town then went back up the cable car to spend an awesome few days in the Vallée Blanche / Col du Midi.
